Charleston, Part 1

For those of you who know me, you know that Andrew and I are super-sentimental. Up until this point, one of our favorite traditions has been for Andrew to take off several days in May to celebrate our anniversary. Some years we have had a “stay-cation” while other years have involved fun trips, our favorite being experiencing the splendor of Yosemite National Park, followed by a stop in Monterey, a beautiful drive up the coast on Hwy. 1, and the amazing cuisine of San Fransisco. Well, with our little one due this May (on our anniversary, no less!), we decided to seize the last of Andrew’s vacation days from 2009 and take our anniversary trip after Christmas while traveling is still relatively easy on me, not to mention still OK-ed by the dr. :) When we arrived in Charleston, our agenda was simple: relax, enjoy the history and character the city had to offer, and eat some great food! That being said, my camera had a hard time staying inside my bag, so I’m going to divide up the photos from our time into 2 posts. Enjoy a glimpse into downtown Charleston:

Rob and Katherine: Love

While my brother and sister-in-law were in town over the holidays, we squeezed in a mini-photo session late one afternoon. There are so many things that I absolutely love about Rob and Katherine, but one that comes to mind as I am looking back through the photos is that they truly enjoy doing life together. It is impossible not to laugh and have a great time when they are around. I hope you enjoy this glimpse into our time:

The Taylors

Welcome back from the holidays! I hope you all had a wonderful time with family. I have a couple of posts left from the end of ‘09 to catch you up on before moving on to some new and exciting things! You may remember me mentioning designer Stephanie Taylor and her wonderful Etsy shop in the recent blog give-away. I was thrilled to meet up with her and her sweet family on a cold December weekend evening for some Christmas card photos. Despite the freezing weather, we had a great session! It is always such a joy to watch a family’s loving interaction with each other. Enjoy a glimpse~

In anticipation of celebrating the Christmas holiday with family and friends, I wanted to leave you with a Christmas wish from our holiday card this year:

Have a wonderful and safe holiday! I’ll be enjoying time with family and will return the first week of January. Until then~

‘Tis the Season

After a 2+ week cold and sinus infection, I am happy to return to the wonderful world of blogging. As I’m sure is the case with most of you, this season tends to be especially busy. I have been working hard on wrapping up family sessions in time for the holidays and have so many wonderful ones I need to catch you up on! In the mean time, enjoy this glimpse of a recent 1-year old session with sweet Marley. This photo speaks to me of the wonder of the holidays from the eyes of a child:

Anyone who has been around a one-year-old knows they don’t stop. Just moments before and after this frame was captured, Marley was busily making her way up these steps. What I love about this image is that it captures her brief pause to wonder at beauty. And that’s my goal this Christmas. Even if it’s for a brief pause, I desire to marvel in the beauty and life that this holiday celebrates. I hope this inspires you to do the same!

Look for more posts to come soon!
